The Spirit 46 is a masterpiece of contemporary wooden yacht construction. Her glamorous looks, so reminiscent of the meter yachts and 'sharp boats' of the 1930's, belie the extraordinary technical achievement of her construction. This exquisite yacht weighs a truly remarkable 4.5 tonnes - of which half is the weight of the keel!

Married to a super efficient sail plan, minimal rocker and a very flat run aft, these yachts are capable of planing speeds up to 18 knots! With all controls led aft to the cockpit, short-handed or single-handed sailing is accomplished with ease, whilst a full-on regatta can be undertaken with a crew of just four. The sensitivity of the Spirit 46 is so great that the experience is like 'wearing' the yacht - the lightness of touch and responsiveness are a complete joy.
Once the adrenaline rush of such performance is over and the mooring beckons, the interior provides delightful accommodation for up to five people. A Vee berth cabin forward is separated from the saloon by a full width heads compartment, whilst in the saloon, amidst the beautiful panelling, the seat backs fold up to provide two very comfortable wide settee berths. The galley contains all that is necessary to feed a hungry crew and the sleeping arrangements are completed by a generous pilot berth aft of the navigation table with its full complement of equipment.
The dimensions and displacement of the Spirit 46 allow it to be easily and economically transported by road or by sea opening up new cruising or regatta possibilities everywhere. Because of this, there are examples in many parts of the world, and there are often groups racing together at some of the major Classic regatta venues. Hardly surprising as, quite simply, the Spirit 46 is one of the most dynamic and desirable smaller yachts available today.
