The New Spirit Deckhouse Range & New Spirit 110DH

In the hunt for perfection, Spirit Yachts have released details of what are sure to become some of the most desirable classic sailing yachts of our time. With three already in production, the Spirit Deckhouse - or 'DH' range - reflects the best of the best from this award winning company. Now firmly established as one of the world’s leading creators of Modern Classics, Spirit Yachts have an enviable record of designing and building some of the most elegant yachts afloat today. The new DH Range raises still further the already very high bar set by their ground breaking designs.
With world-wide cruising capability, the new 'DH' models retain all the beautifully elegant looks of the classic Spirits, along with their legendary performance. MD and Chief Designer, Sean McMillan very modestly says “The deckhouse range is configured to allow serious navigation and pilotage in comfort, with full visibility all round and easy communication with the helm. It also offers a very relaxing social area from which to enjoy the sailing or simply watch the world go by - but with such style and performance that’s very hard to find these days" Without doubt these will be stunning, high performance yachts - possessing all the Spirit design and craftsmanship associated with this master builder.

The range’s show-stopper is the exquisite flagship 110DH (illustrated), but these jewels of the sea will start at a very respectable 50’. Further models in the range are currently available at 57, 60, 65 and 72ft. All Spirits are built using a clever integration of modern and traditional materials in highly developed wood/epoxy technology, with sophisticated underwater foil profiles and highly efficient modern rigging. The larger yachts in the range are reinforced with stainless steel ring frames to reduce weight (typically an astonishingly 35%-40% lighter than other build methods) – the steel core providing a load-bearing spaceframe that distributes rig stresses throughout the hull. The nature of this advanced building technique employed by Spirit Yachts allows total flexibility regarding internal layout, so that 'Custom' design and building really does mean Custom, so you can have it all – the flexibility to have the layout you truly want with minimal compromise (and not forgetting the potential for speeds in excess of 20 knots!).
The rigs will be custom made in carbon – light and stiff, perfect for cruising and racing. Designed to be sailed with limited crew and can easily be set up for short or single-handed sailing.
Beyond the beautifully sculptural deckhouse lies another of Spirit Yacht’s hallmarks - the clean completely flush deck, offering large uncluttered areas to work or relax. Below decks there is a second saloon along with cabins all fitted out in Spirit's inimitable style. The pursuit of perfection continues throughout the uniquely flexible interior layouts, with the richness of book matched mahogany or cherry panelling - all fielded and raised - handcrafted by world class cabinet makers to an interior design specific to the client’s requirements.
The first of these exceptional deckhouse yachts will launch this autumn, destined for the Mediterranean, and Spirit Yachts have already taken orders for three more, so it looks as if this 'blue water' range will quickly establish its place alongside the many Classic Spirits already afloat.
