Award Winning SPIRIT YACHTS launch NEW Deckhouse Yachts

The first two yachts in Spirit Yachts' exciting new Deckhouse, or DH, range have been launched and are proving themselves every bit as desirable as the world renowned Classic range from this award-winning company.
At 50 and 57 feet respectively, these new yachts offer the same graceful lines, superb modern construction and technology, ease of handling and sparkling performance as the rest of the fleet but with a little more volume for enhanced world-wide cruising capability and comfort. Freeboard has been increased slightly to give a drier ride on passage and the pagoda deckhouse offers a great social area with comfortable seating/extra berths as well as excellent weather protection while sailing.
These two front-runners will be followed by 60 and 65 feet models currently in build. Designs and specs are also available up to the range's exquisite flagship, a show-stopping 110DH.

Now firmly established as one of the world’s leading creators of Modern Classics, Spirit Yachts have an enviable record of designing and building some of the most elegant yachts afloat today. The new DH Range raises still further the already very high bar set by their ground breaking designs.
With world-wide cruising capability, the new 'DH' models retain all the beautifully elegant looks of the classic Spirits, along with their legendary performance. MD and Chief Designer, Sean McMillan says “The deckhouse range is configured to allow serious navigation and pilotage in comfort, with full visibility all round and easy communication with the helm. It also offers a very relaxing social area from which to enjoy the sailing or simply watch the world go by - but with a style and performance that’s very hard to find these days".

All Spirits are built using a clever integration of modern and traditional materials in highly developed wood/epoxy technology, with sophisticated underwater foil profiles and highly efficient modern rigging. The larger yachts in the range are reinforced with stainless steel ring frames, the steel core providing a load-bearing spaceframe that distributes rig stresses throughout the hull. The nature of this advanced building tehnique employed by Spirit Yachts allows total flexibility regarding internal layout, so that 'Custom' design and building really does mean Custom, so you can have it all – the flexibility to have the layout and spec you truly want with minimal compromise and fantastic sailing performance.
Like all Spirits the Deckhouse yachts are equipped to the highest standards. Both the 50DH and 57DH have carbon rigs by Southern Spars, advanced sail design and technology by Quantum UK and full stainless steel winches by Harken. Each yacht's spec varies according to the Owner's particular requirements and in addition to the already excellent standard spec the 57DH, for example, is fitted with bowthruster, electric furler, electric winches, fully push-button hydraulics for sail-trim, air-con, wi-fi worldwide communications, espresso machine and much more.

Perfect for both cruising and racing, the yachts can be sailed with limited crew or easily be set up for short or single-handed sailing. With the added comfort of the deckhouse, however, up to eight people can be accommodated on board.
Beyond the beautifully sculptural deckhouse lies another of Spirit Yacht’s hallmarks - the clean completely flush teak deck, offering large uncluttered areas to work or relax. Below decks there is a second saloon along with cabins all fitted out in Spirit's inimitable style. The pursuit of perfection continues throughout the uniquely flexible interior layouts, with the richness of book matched mahogany or cherry panelling - all fielded and raised - handcrafted by world class cabinet makers to an interior design specific to the client’s requirements.
The increased capacity of the DH range allows the highest level of specification to fulfill the most demanding requirements of the long distance sailor, yet the light displacement construction techniques perfected by Spirit Yachts enable these yachts to excel in the great Classic Regattas as well where they are welcomed in the 'Spirit of Tradition' class. Spirit Yachts of all sizes, from 37' to 100' have competed successfully in many of the most famous regattas from les Voiles d’Antibes and Les Voiles de St. Tropez to Antigua Classics and Cowes.

This established yacht building company, based in Ipswich, England, is virtually unique in designing and building in-house - delivering some very big advantages when commissioning a build, one of the biggest of which being the avoidance of potential designer/builder issues which typically crop up and delay projects – not so at the Spirit Yard. They have some twenty-five years' experience of building in wood/epoxy, a construction technique that is unsurpassed for strength-to-weight ratio, warmth & insulation, aesthetics and environmental sustainability. Building in wood/epoxy carries no expensive ‘start-up’ mould costs and the method is considerably more cost effective than might be imagined.
Exclusivity is guaranteed when owning a Spirit – membership of a very select club of hand crafted yachts made by an exceptionally talented team. Clients come from all corners of the World, from the Bahamas to the Black Sea or the Mediterranean to the Pacific. Most Owners like to visit the yard on a frequent basis during the build, and are encouraged to do so - to get to know their project team and to appreciate the care and quality going into the build of their yacht.
